Flowers That Come With Ice Cream: Our Windflower x Apiary Collaboration

Here is our favourite thing about this collaboration: it does not end when the flowers arrive.

Most of what we do at Windflower is deliveries. Someone thinks of someone, we tie the flowers, a doorbell rings across town, and that is usually where our part of the story closes. The Windflower x Apiary collection is our little rebellion against that ending. Every arrangement in it comes with a voucher for a free scoop of any Classic or Premium flavour at Apiary Ice Creamery on Neil Road. The QR code lands in the inbox after checkout (peek into spam and promotions if it plays hide and seek), and the counter scans it like a boarding pass.

Which means the bouquet you send is not just a bouquet anymore. It is flowers today, and an ice cream date waiting to happen.

The business we are really in

We like to say we deliver flowers, but that has never been the whole truth. What we actually deliver is the moment someone realises they were thought of. A bouquet does that beautifully, and then, like all beautiful things, it fades. So when we sat down with the folks at Apiary, the question was never "how do we sell flowers with ice cream". It was: what if a gift could leave something open? A scoop with your name on it. A shopfront on Neil Road. An afternoon that has not happened yet, waiting for two people to pick a day.

Send these flowers to someone and you have quietly handed them a plan. Maybe they take you along. Maybe they take someone else. Either way, the gift keeps going after the vase is filled, and that is the part we love. We are in the business of making memories. The flowers are just how we start them.

The five designs

Each one is a real Windflower recipe, made for this collection and named for the world of the ice cream counter:

• Honeyed Bloom (S$70): cream carnations, champagne rose, yellow oncidium and eucalyptus in a clear glass vase. The warm, golden one.
• Velvet Berry (S$50): white roses and chrysanthemum with dark pink astrantia and pink astilbe. Exactly what it sounds like: cream with berries stirred through.
• Scoop & Bloom (S$48): orange spray roses, purple carnation, pink rose and yellow oncidium in a flower box. The colourful one, our little display case of flavours.
• Guava Blush (S$55): a preserved rose arrangement with cotton, dried wheat and soft peach accents. The keepsake of the five; it will outlast many, many scoops.
• Soft Blue Hour (S$50): a hydrangea-led bouquet in soft blue with white accents, named for the hour just after sunset when ice cream somehow tastes best.

So which flavour goes with which flowers?

Honestly? Whichever one you point at. We kept the voucher open to every Classic and Premium flavour on purpose, because the person holding it knows their own taste better than any florist does. If you want our instinct anyway: Honeyed Bloom belongs with something golden and creamy, Velvet Berry wants fruit with a little tang, and Soft Blue Hour asks for whatever you would eat slowly on a quiet evening. But half the fun is standing at the counter, bouquet in one hand, happily disagreeing about it.

How to turn it into a date

Our suggestion, for what it is worth: send the flowers first, free delivery across Singapore like everything else we make. The voucher email follows the order. Then, once the flowers have done their job, offer to come along for the scoop. You have just turned one gift into two moments, and the second one comes with you in it.
